Preparing For The Staten Island Type-In. (What do you think of this blog?)

  1. OK, I just had to immediately run and try the paragraph indent thing on my Lettera 31. What do you know...it works! How cool is that little feature? Thank you for sharing that with us!

I tend to use that typewriter a lot lately just because it's so much lighter and easier to get in and out of the case than the big guys. Still really envy the Lettera 32 owners, but the 31 is surprisingly lovable.

Best of luck with the type-in!

  2. As to your question, Matt, I'd just like to read more about you and your relationship with typewriters. Showdowns are great. Tips are always useful. Any history on models you have come across. Commentary on models you have used or want or see. Its all good.

I think you do a good job on your blog and its not boring. You have a lot of enthusiasm for this stuff and that's really what is fun to read.

The ONLY peeve I have on anything you post is your tendency to apologize for not posting more or mentioning how its been a long time since your last typecast. I don't think any of that is needed, as anyone can see the dates of your posts. Its certainly nice that you want to post more, but writing it on almost every post is really about the only repetitive thing you do.

In any event, keep up the writing and good luck on Staten Island!

  3. 1. No, you're no an idiot. You're just crazy. Royals are cool but my Smith Corona is a ton snappier than my Quiet De-Luxe.

    2. WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET MUPPETS LETTERHEAD!?!? I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I'd suggest that asking "what do you want to see on this blog" is akin to asking your friends at work (or, I suppose, school): "What topics would you like to chit-chat about today?" That is, it's a question that doesn't really ever come to mind. The point of shootin' the breeze with your buds is being with your buds; the topic of the breeze-shootin' is way down on the list of things I worry about.

  6. Deek: Thanks for the friendly criticism! Yeha, now that I think aboout it, I really should stop saying that!

Art: I got the Muppets letterhead from the website www.leterheady.com. Just scroll down until you see it.

Duffy: Now I see your point! My blog is mine, and I should post what I want. Thanks for the insight. Sometimes I just get caught up in trying to please other people that I forget what my blog is really about. It's MY blog!

And LFP: The Lettera paragraph indent thing is great, right!?

  7. Leonard Cohen? A Lettera 22? Now I HAVE to get one! My old 1939 Remington Model 5 has a "self-starter" button which indents paras about 10 characters or so, from memory. You'd have thought L. Cohen would have used a Canadian-built typer. But then, he's a passion for Mediterranean climes. On your blog? I'm pining for some rhyming. Poetry please.

  9. Hey Matt! Had a lot of fun at the type-in today. You really know your stuff kid! Sorry you couldn't win the Smith-Corona. Might start one of these typecasts myself once I get my Royal back.
